Seismic Hazard Potential in Yogyakarta Based on HVSR Curve Estimation

چکیده

Abstract In 2006, the Special Region of Yogyakarta was shaken by a destructive earthquake. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) recorded that earthquake had magnitude 6.3 M w at depth 12.5 km below surface triggered strike slip fault activity. severe damage occurred in Bantul district and Klaten district, where area location were far from epicenter. This proves source distance are not only parameters for seismic hazard potential, but rather presence local site effects building conditions. present study aims to determine characteristics soil estimate potential using HVSR method. Horizontal Vertical Spectral Ratio (HVSR) is one method can be used obtain subsurface information single station measurements. Furthermore, inversion Rayleigh wave ellipticity curve 1-D shear velocity (Vs). calculation mapped understand structure beneath area. Based on classification Vs, categorized SD (Stiff soil/soft soil) SC (Very dense soft rock). results mapping analysis indicated an with highest hazard.

Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Assessment of Tehran Based on Arias Intensity

A probabilistic seismic hazard assessment in terms of Arias intensity is presented for the city of Tehran. Tehran is the capital and the most populated city of Iran. From economical, political and social points of view, Tehran is the most significant city of Iran. Many destructive earthquakes happened in Iran in the last centuries. Historical references indicate that the old city of Rey and the...

Social Aggravation Estimation to Seismic Hazard using Classical Fuzzy Methods

In the last years, from a disasters perspective, risk has been dimensioned to allow a better management. However, this conceptualization turns out to be limited or constrained, by the generalized use of a fragmented risk scheme, which always consider first, the approach and applicability of each discipline involved. To be congruent with risk definition, it is necessary to consider an integral f...

Seismic hazard zoning in Urmia urban area.

Today, the resiliency of the human centers, especially urban centers against the natural hazards such as earthquakes, is one of the main challenges in the targeted management of urban. One of the effective strategies in the control, containment and prevention of risks from earthquakes is zoning of urban areas in terms of vulnerability. In this regard, the purpose of this study was to determine...

On The Estimation of Hazard Potential for Chemical Substances

There is considerable interest in means for predicting reactivity hazard potential from chemical structure. Such means are intended to provide measures of the likelihood that a given chemical composition can undergo rapid self-reaction, i.e., that it can detonate or deflagrate. The means to be discussed are most useful in predicting behavior under unconfined conditions. As they are computationa...

Updating Seismic Hazard at Parkfield

The occurrence of the September 28, 2004 Mw=6.0 mainshock at Parkfield, California, has significantly increased the mean and aperiodicity of the series of time intervals between mainshocks in this segment of the San Andreas fault. We use five different statistical distributions as renewal models to fit this new series and to estimate the time-dependent probability of the next Parkfield mainshoc...
